-1.  Pick a Suitable Location

  • On firm level surface with good access for service.
  • Free from flooding or sprinklers.
  • Close to water faucet dedicated to the unit.  25 ft of 3/8″ tubing included with unit.  Faucet must be able to deliver 1 gal/min.
  • Near GFCI outlet.  Unit’s power cord is 12 ft.  NEVER USE AN EXTENSION CORD!
  • Unit requires 120V and 15 amp circuit.  Test with multi-meter.

 

0.  Remove Gen 3 from Box

  • Open box and remove finish kit
  • Verify finish kit:
    • Remote transmitter
    • Antenna for remote receiver
    • Faucet adapter
    • 25′ of 3/8″ tubing
    • inlet water filter with short length of 3/8″ tubing
    • Plus Cap for concentrate bottle
  • Lift unit straight up from box, placing one hand under front lip of the unit and the other hand on lip of open lid.
  • Thread remote antenna onto coax fitting on top of lid.


1.  Connect the Water Supply Line

  • Take care not to introduce dirt into the line.
  • Insert short length of 3/8″ tubing connected to inlet water filter into 3/8″ fitting on lower right corner of unit.
  • Thread faucet adapter onto faucet.  To allow Gen 3 to share faucet with garden hose, first connect a “Y” fitting with a valve on each leg.
  • Insert 3/8″ line into faucet adapter, then measure and cut tubing.
  • Run water to flush line before connecting to filter port marked “IN.”

 

2.  Test the System and Inspect the Nozzle Circuit

  • Connect nozzle circuit to 1/4″ bulkhead fitting.
  • Install optional zone kit.  For instructions, see Gen 3:  Zone Kit Installation
  • Plug unit into outlet and confirm controller boots up.
  • Inspect nozzle circuit for leaks
    • Run inspection cycle, INS in MAINTENANCE Menu.  After the batch tank fills with water, the system will pressure up and mist.
    • Check nozzle circuit for leaks and repair.
    • Repeat
    • If zone kit, inspect both zones with INS 1 and INS 2.
  • Confirm pump pressure is 250 psi.
    • Run inspection cycle.
    • If necessary, adjust pump bypass with flathead screwdriver.  Port located back bottom left corner of unit.

 

3.  Install the Nozzle Circuit Filter

  • Mount filter head to bracket with screws, then mount filter head to right side of unit.
  • FILL FILTER CANISTER WITH WATER!
  • Confirm o-ring on top of the canister is seated in groove, then screw filter housing onto the filter head.
  • Cut and connect 1/4″ tubing following direction of flow arrows
    • “IN” – misting unit to filter
    • “OUT” – filter to nozzle circuit

4.  Orient and Test the Handheld Remote Transmitter

  • Set parameters in controller:
    • Run REFILL routine in the MAINTENANCE Menu.  DO NOT INSERT CONCENTRATE BOTTLE!  Accept defaults for MIX, BOT and LEVEL.  Press Green button after Vent to return to home screen.
    • Set System Mode to Auto Everday on home screen.
    • Set NOZ in SETUP Menu to nozzle count.  Set NOZ 1 and NOZ 2 if zone kit.
    • Set REM (remote mist duration) in SETUP Menu to desired.  45 secs is common.
  • Put receiver in misting unit into “learn” mode
    • LRT in SET-UP Menu.  Press and hold green button
    • Countdown starts
  • Put handheld transmitter in “learn” mode
    • Find recessed pairing button on back of transmitter
    • Use paperclip to press and quickly release button. DO NOT HOLD PAIRING BUTTON DOWN!
    • Blue LED will flash several times
    • Controller will display “DONE”
    • Press MIST on handheld to complete pairing
  • Test remote by pressing MIST.  Stop cycle by pressing STOP MIST

5.  Test Leak Detection

  • Press MIST on handheld transmitter and allow for a complete remote mist cycle
  • If controller displays ERR3, there is probably a leak.
  • Clear the error by pressing and holding Red Stop button and run another remote mist to confirm

 

6.  Insert Concentrate Bottle and Charge the Batch Tank

  • Unapproved concentrates may damage the system or may not be legal to apply through the system.  Make sure concentrate is in Gen 3:  Approved Insecticides
  • Calculate required MIX ratio of concentrate (parts water: 1 part concentrate)
  • Fill tip-and-measure bottle with concentrate:
    • Use a funnel
    • Do not cross-thread or overtighten Plus Cap on pour port
    • Remove seal from vent port
    • Apply adhesive-backed label supplied with concentrate to side of bottle
  • Insert bottle into coupler
  • Run REFILL routine in the MAINTENANCE Menu
    • Enter calculated MIX ratio from above
    • Enter BOTtle size in ounces.  64 for 1/2 gallon bottle.  128 for 1 gallon bottle.
    • Set LEVEL to full
    • After VENT, press Green button to return to home screen
  • Run CHG (Charge) routine in the MAINTENANCE Menu.  After it finishes, run it again.  RUN TWO CHARGE CYCLES!

 

7.  Set Mist Cycles

  • Confirm day and time on home screen are correct.  If not, reset in DAY/TIME Menu.
  • Set mist duration and time for each cycle in CYCLES Menu.  24 possible daily mist cycles.
  • A common program is:
    • Morning:  around 7:00 am for 45 seconds (after sprinkler system has run)
    • Dusk:  around 7:00 pm for 45 seconds
    • Night:  around 11:00 pm for 45 seconds
  • You may need to set other parameters in the SET-UP Menu (eg if you are installing a wind sensor).  You’ll find a complete list at Gen 3 Controller:  Menus  Otherwise, accept the defaults.

 

8.  Button Up the Unit

  • Confirm System Mode set to Auto Everyday on home screen.
  • Close lid on unit

ERR2 – ON or OFF.  Leave OFF

  • Error usually results from unit not misting as much volume as expected.

  • SET-UP Menu, ER2
  • Default is OFF.  This error overlaps with other error codes and should be left OFF.

ERR3 – ON or OFF

  • Error usually results from a significant leak in the nozzle circuit.
  • See Gen 3:  Troubleshooting ERR3 for more explanation.
  • SET-UP Menu, ER3
  • Default is ON (if uncertain, leave ON)

ERR4 – Always ON

  • Usually results from water to the unit being shut off.
  • Error will clear itself and return unit to preset System Mode if water supply is turned back on.
  • See Gen 3:  Troubleshooting ERR4 for more explanation.

ERR5 – Always ON

ERR6 – ON or OFF

  • Results from clog or failure in flow meter that controls batch makeup logic.
  • If ERR6 is disabled and flow meter fails, unit will not add insecticide to the batch.

  • SET-UP Menu, ER6
  • Default is ON (if uncertain, leave ON)

AIR TRAPPED IN THE FILTER DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION AND SYSTEM STARTUP COULD CAUSE VIOLENT RUPTURE OF THE FILTER HOUSING RESULTING IN SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY!

FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.

  • Do not remove Pressure Relief Valve Assembly
  • Before installing filter or replacing element, ensure nozzles are misting, there are no kinks or blocks in the nozzle circuit and the pump pressure does not exceed 250 psi.
  • Fill filter housing completely with water.
  • If necessary, adjust pump pressure to a maximum of 250 psi.


Time:  5 minutes

Tools:

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver (to adjust pump pressure)

Gen 1.3 55 Gal Kit – (PN #29013)

 

Gen 1.3 125 Gal Kit – (PN 29125)

Gen 3 Retrofit Kit – (PN #29030)
 

Gen 3 (New) Kit – (PN #29040)
 

1.  Before installing filter or replacing element, ensure nozzles are misting, there are no kinks or blocks in nozzle circuit, and the PUMP PRESSURE DOES NOT EXCEED 250 PSI!

2.  Mount filter head to bracket using 4 included screws.

If Gen 1.3, mount bracket (with attached filter) to gray ring on drum.

  • Position bracket at angle to drum ring as shown.
  • Press bracket onto ring with one hand while pushing filter toward drum with the other.

If Gen 3, mount bracket (with attached filter) to right wall of misting unit.

  • Retrofit Gen 3 – hangs from sidewall and secured with set screw.
  • New Gen 3 – mounts to right sidewall with screws.

 

3.  Open filter housing and confirm O-ring is seated in groove at the top of housing.

If missing, flip over the filter head and look there.

4.  Fill filter housing completely with water!

5.  Position filter element in the center of the housing and screw filter housing onto filter head.

6.  Direction of flow is important.  Connect 1/4″ tubing from misting unit to the port on the pressure relieve valve and from “OUT” to the nozzle circuit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • If Gen 1.3, leave enough slack tubing on both sides to be able to remove filter from drum and set it on the ground when you remove the drum lid for service.
  • Remove any 1/4″ inline filters that may have been previously installed and verify that there are no kinks in tubing that could cause pressure buildup.

7. Execute a MIST and, if necessary, adjust pump pressure to a MAXIMUM OF 250 PSI!

]]> The “iMist2-ready” handheld transmitter with the light colored label will communicate with the white “iMist2-ready” receiver but not with the first generation (black) receiver.

  

1.  Put the iMist2-ready receiver on the misting unit into “Learn” mode at the controller

  • SET-UP Menu, LRT
  • Press and hold Green ► button for 5 seconds until LRT is displayed and countdown starts

 

2.  While the controller is counting down, put the handheld transmitter into “Learn” mode with a paper clip

  • Pull the plastic “battery-save” protection tab (if present) from remote transmitter.
  • Use the supplied paperclip to press and quickly release the recessed pairing button on back of transmitter.  DO NOT HOLD PAIRING BUTTON DOWN!
  • The blue LED above the button will flash several times, indicating it is in pairing mode
  • The controller display will indicate DONE when the transmitter and receiver are paired with each other.

​ 

3.  If countdown continues without displaying DONE . . . 

  • In Step 2, if the pairing button is held down too long, the remote transmitter may have entered a frozen mode and will not pair with the receiver. You can tell if this has occurred by pressing (but not holding) the pairing button with the paper clip.  If the blue LED flashes twice, it is in the frozen mode.
  • If this has occurred, press and release the pairing button 4 times in succession.  On the 5th press, hold the button down for about 3 seconds.  While the button is pressed, the blue LED will be solid and then double blink.  After the double blink, release the button.
  • You should now be able to pair the transmitter and receiver by repeating step 2.

4.  Confirm “Learn” by activating a remote mist cycle

  • Confirm System Mode is set to REM or AUTO-Everyday
  • Confirm Level:  Gen1.3 – MAINTENANCE Menu, Level; Gen 3 – MAINTENANCE Menu, REFILL routine
  • Confirm number of nozzles:  SET-Up Menu, NOZ
  • Confirm remote mist duration:  SET-UP Menu, REM
  • Press MIST on handheld
  • LED on front of handheld will light when it receives confirming signal from iMist2-ready receiver on unit and unit will begin its mist cycle.

1.  Disconnect power to the unit.  The zone kit will be recognized when the controller boots up after the Zone Kit is connected.

2.  Remove the black plastic plug from access port and push zone kit connector and lead through port.

3.  Use screws (4 included) to mount zone kit to back of unit.

4.  Lift controller from shroud and connect the lead from the zone kit to the 4-pin connector labeled “ZONE CONTROL.”  Replace controller.

5.  Connect 1/4″ tubing from the unit to the zone kit inlet, labeled “IN”.  Connect the 1/4″ tubing feeding each nozzle circuit to the ports labeled “Zone 1” and “Zone 2.”

5a.  If the unit has a nozzle circuit filter, connect 1/4″ tubing from the misting unit to the IN port on the filter (white tubing) and connect tubing from the OUT port on the filter (black tubing) to the zone kit inlet as shown.

6.  Restore power to the unit.

7.  Set the number of nozzles per zone.

  • SET-UP Menu, NZ1 and NZ2
  • If you see only NOZ, verify Zone Kit connector is plugged into ZONE CONTROL port on controller and cycle the power.

If you only see NOZ in the SET-UP Menu, verify the zone kit connector is plugged into the ZONE CONTROL port on the controller and cycle the power to the unit.

8.  Set the remote zone control.

  • SET-UP Menu, RMZ
  • RMZ1:  remote mist in Zone 1 only
  • RMZ2:  remote mist in Zone 2 only
  • RMZ 1/2:  remote mist in Zone 1, then in Zone 2

9.  Set the automatic mist zones.

  • SET-UP Menu, ZNC
  • if ZNC = BTH, both zones will mist on same schedule with the same mist duration.  In the CYCLES Menu, you can configure schedule and duration for each of 24 mist cycles, C1 – C24.

  • If ZNC = IND, each zone can operate on its own schedule.  In the CYCLES Menu, you configure Zone 1 schedule and duration in 12 possible mist cycles, A1 – A12.  You configure Zone 2 schedule and duration in cycles B1 – B12.
  • You’ll find B1 sequentially after A12 in the CYCLES Menu.

10.  Run an inspection cycle on each zone.

  • MAINTENANCE Menu
  • INS1 for Zone 1 and INS2 for Zone 2.  Press and hold Green ► button for 5 seconds to start.
