MistAway’s new pressure gauge is designed to be removable and stored away when not in use. Simply unscrew the pressure gauge, store it in the provided gauge holder, and make sure to thread the tethered plug onto the open gauge fitting assembly to cap it off. The following article will detail the instructions of the retrofit process on the Gen 3 system.

Installation Instructions:

 

 

1.  Remove Existing Pressure Gauge from Service

• Remove the metal screws (x6) from the Gen 3 side walls to gain access to the system.
• Cut the brown tube connected to the back of the existing pressure gauge as close to the gauge as possible.
  • You can also disconnect the other end of the tube from the pump. Discard this piece.

• Use the provided black vinyl sticker to cover the old pressure gauge window, denoting it is out of service.
• Carefully move the plastic shroud off to the left side of the unit so as not to kink or disconnect any tubes. If needed, feed the controller through the shroud window for easier removal.

2.  Install the Adapter Fitting for the New Pressure Gauge

• On the left face of the back metal wall, using a 9/16″ metal drill bit, drill a hole 1.5″ directly above the power cable fitting. Use a tape measure and sharpie as necessary to mark the drill point.

• Install the new gauge adapter fitting in this hole by removing a washer from one side of bulkhead fitting, placing the fitting through the hole, placing the washer back on, and tightening the washers on each side of the fitting.
• Remove the white tube from Port A on the pump tee and connect it to Port B.
  • If necessary, reduce the length of the white tube by using tube cutters for a better fit.
  • When routing the white tube, it must be routed behind the bellows pump

• Connect the provided 1/4″ black tubing to Port A on the pump tee and and other end to the new gauge adapter fitting.

3.  Mount New Gauge Holder

• Reposition the plastic shroud into place and reassemble the side walls of the Gen 3+.
• Using the provided self-tapping screws, mount the gauge holder to the inside of the Gen 3 shroud in the small nook above the cartridge coupler.

Installation Instructions:

 

1.  Remove Existing Pressure Gauge from Service

• Remove plastic shroud screws (x4) and tilt the Gen 1.3 shroud backwards.
• Cut the black plastic tube connected to the back of the existing pressure gauge as close to the gauge as possible. This tube will remain sitting loose in its connection for now
  
• Use the provided black vinyl sticker to cover the old pressure gauge window, denoting it is out of service.

2.  Install the Adapter Fitting for the New Pressure Gauge

• On the left face of the plastic shroud, using a 9/16″ drill bit, drill a hole 2″ directly below the push-in lid fastener.
  
• Install the new gauge adapter fitting in this hole by removing a washer from one side of bulkhead fitting, placing the fitting through the hole, placing the washer back on, and tightening the washers on each side of the fitting.
• Connect the cut 1/4″ black tube from earlier to the gauge adapter fitting.
  

3.  Mount New Gauge Holder

• Using the provided self-tapping screws, mount the gauge holder to the left face of the Gen 1.3 shroud.
  

In the event where the iMistAway App cannot be downloaded from the Google Play Store, we offer an alternative method/workaround of downloading the app. This involves downloading the App APK from Dropbox and manually installing the app to the phone. The instructions for this process are found below.

 

Download Instructions:

 

1. Follow the listed Dropbox link below.

• If the page prompts you to open it in the Dropbox app, choose to remain in the browser instead.
• Additionally, you can choose to ignore signing up for a Dropbox account and continue as a guest.

2. Click the large download button in the middle of the screen.

• You may get a message that says “Can’t load this file type. This file type is not supported here.” This message is safe to ignore and you should continue to download the app.

3. Install the newly downloaded APK.

• Navigate to the “My Files” App on your Android device and select the newly downloaded APK.
  • Note that it should be opened within the “My Files” app specifically and not the Dropbox app or browser window.

4. Allow Download Permissions.

• You will get a message warning you of apps downloaded from unknown sources with the options “Cancel” or “Settings”
• Click “Settings” and use the radio slider to grant permissions to the app.
• If prompted to send the file/app to Google for a security scan, proceed to do so.

5. Launch iMistAway and Update App.

• After downloading the app and launching it for the first time, you will be prompted to update the app. Please do so.

6. Enjoy the Features and Functionality of the iMistAway App.

• Now that the app is installed and updated, you should be able to find the iMistAway app icon on you home screen/app library.
• All features and functionality will now be available to you upon logging in to your iMistAway account using your username and set password.

This article will cover the various iMist3 communication and hardware problems and troubleshooting steps, as well as the blinking LED patterns for further troubleshooting. If you see one of these three icons in the app indicating the iMist3 is not connected to the cell network, follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem.

 

Troubleshooting:

iMist3 Troubleshooting is done using the LED on the module to diagnose various problems with the module. If the module is up to date on the latest firmware: Version 144 (4/26), it will have access to the following blinking light patterns for troubleshooting.

Additionally, when an iMist3 module disconnects for any reason, it uses the remaining power in the capacitor to write a specific time to C20 within the cycles menu. This can additionally be used to diagnose the issue, however it is less reliable as it is not always written. These will be covered below with the blinking LED patterns.

 

Dead Module:

Remove power from the controller.  Wait a full minute or until the green LED on the module goes dark.  Restore power and observe the LED. If the LED is dark, the iMist3 module must be replaced.  Please call MistAway Tech Support to organize replacement.

 

Searching for Tower:

If the LED is still blinking rapidly ten seconds after you restore power, it is attempting to connect to a cell tower.

 

Dead Capacitor:

If the LED shows a pattern of a few rapid flashes followed by a 4-5 sec pause, a capacitor in the module has failed and the iMist3 must be replaced.  Please call MistAway Tech Support to organize replacement.

 

Failed Modem:

If the LED shows a completely solid light and does not do any blinking pattern whatsoever, the modem in the module has failed and the iMist3 must be replaced. Please call MistAway Tech Support to organize replacement.

Communication Problems:

If after the module is rapidly blinking, it changes to a series of triple blinks with a brief pause between the sets, the module has failed to connect to the tower. This could be due to a number of things, mainly bad connectivity from the antenna, denial of registration by the tower operator, or a tower connection failure by the cellular provider. In this case, nothing is mechanically wrong with the iMist3 module, and it should be left plugged in as it continues to search for a signal.

SIM Disconnected:

If the LED blinks rapidly for a few seconds and then displays a repeating pattern of two blinks followed by a short pause, you can may be able to restore connectivity by repositioning the SIM card inside the iMist3.  See the related article for instructions on this process.

Connected to Tower:

Allow about three minutes for the module to connect.  If the LED pattern shifts from blinking rapidly to blinking slowly, the iMist3 module has connected to the cell network and will show to be online in the app.  You may need to refresh the app screen by pulling down.

 

If the LED continues to blink rapidly, it has not reconnected to the cell network.  Please call MistAway Tech Support for further instructions.
