Gen 1.3 component repairs or replacements can be made by repositioning the controller and plastic cover that protects the unit.

Time:  3 minutes
Tools:  Phillips screwdriver

1.  For access, reposition controller and cover.

A.  Remove screws securing controller to cover.

B.  Leaving the wiring harness connected, feed the controller through the well in the cover and let it rest on the metal chassis inside.

C.  Remove 4 screws securing cover to metal chassis with a Phillips screwdriver.

D.  Lift the cover off the chassis and allow it to hang behind the unit from the 1/4" tubing that connects to the pressure gauge.

2.  After the repair or replacement is made and tested, reverse the process.

A.  Rotate cover back onto chassis and use Phillips screwdriver to replace 4 screws that secure the cover to the chassis.

B.  Feed controller back into position in the cover and secure with screws.

Parts:

• Gen 3/1.3 Brass Pump Assembly, including fittings – (#21005)

1.  Reposition controller and plastic cover.  See Gen 1.3:  Access components by Repositioning Cover.

2.  Remove existing pump

A.  Using Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw in the clamp that connects the pump and motor and pull the pump of the motor.

B.  Release the intake and discharge tubing from the push-to-connect fittings on the pump.

3.  Replace with new pump and test

A.  Insert intake and discharge tubing into push-connect-fittings on pump.  Push tubing into fitting and then pull back ensure good connections.

B.  Slide clamp with screw over pump and mate pump shaft to motor, then tighten the clamp.

C.  Run a remote or manual mist to ensure the unit is working properly.

5.  Return cover and controller to original position.

The primary cause of failure in the remote receiver is water entering the connection with the CAT 5 cable.  When replacing the remote receiver, we advise also replacing the receiver cable and antenna.

1.  Reposition controller and plastic cover.  See Gen 1.3:  Access components by Repositioning Cover.

2.  Disconnect cable and remove remote receiver and antenna.

A.  Unplug the CAT 5 cable from both the controller and receiver and discard.

B.  Remove the receiver/antenna by using a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure it to the chassis.  Discard the receiver and antenna, but keep the screws and spacers.

3.  Replace with new remote receiver and antenna.

A.  Secure new receiver to chassis with screws and spacers.

B.  Screw new antenna onto connector.

C.  Connect the new segment of CAT 5 cable to both the receiver and the controller.

4.  Orient Remote Transmitter and test.

A.  Conduct LRN routine to introduce transmitter to new receiver.

• SET-UP Menu, LRN
• Press and hold Green ► button for 5 secs until LRN ON and countdown starts
• Press and hold any button on remote transmitter until DONE is displayed.

B.  Run remote mist to ensure receiver is working properly.

5.  Return cover and controller to original position.

• 15 mm wrench
• channel lock pliers or crescent wrench
• 5/16″ nut driver
• Teflon tape

Parts:

• Replacement Pressure Gauge Assembly – Includes Gauge and Fitting (SKU 21037)

1.  Reposition controller and plastic cover.  See Gen 1.3:  Access components by Repositioning Cover.

2.  Remove existing pressure gauge.

A.  Release 1/4″ tubing from the pressure gauge and remove the cover.

B.  Use channel locks or crescent wrench and 15 mm wrench to remove straight female connector as shown.

C.  Use 5/16″ nut driver to remove nuts securing gauge to bracket, and remove the gauge from cover.  Discard gauge.

3.  Install replacement gauge

A.  Wrap Teflon tape around threads on gauge.

B.  If the diameter of the failed gauge (and the hole it was mounted in) is the same size as the new gauge, proceed to step 3D.  If not, you’ll need to use the adapter rings.

C.  Slide one of the adapter rings over the gauge, then insert the gauge into the hole, so that the ring is between the gauge and the top side of the shroud. Slide the other adapter ring over the gauge, sandwiching the gauge and cover between the two rings.

D.  Position the bracket on the back of the gauge and then tighten the straight female connector to the gauge.

E.  Ensure the gauge is oriented correctly on the outside of the cover, then tighten the nuts securing the gauge to the shroud.

F.  Reconnect 1/4″ nylon tubing to new gauge. Make sure it is secure in the fitting.

5.  Return cover and controller to original position.

• Phillips head screwdriver
• 1/2″ ratcheting wrench
• 1/4 nut driver or flathead screwdriver
• needlenose pliers (optional)

Parts:

• Gen 3/1.3 Motor – 1/2 HP (#10800)

1.  Reposition controller and plastic cover.  See Gen 1.3:  Access components by Repositioning Cover.

2.  Remove existing motor and disconnect the motor cable.

A.  IMPORTANT!! Unplug the motor cable connector from the controller port marked “Motor.”

B.  Using Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw in the clamp that connects the pump and motor and pull the pump off the motor.

C.  Use the 1/2″ ratcheting wrench to remove the nuts that secure the motor to the floor of the unit.  Save the nuts and lock washers and remove the motor from the unit.

D.  On the end of the motor where the cable is connected, use the nut driver to remove the two black screws from the gray cover plate and remove the plate.

E.  Loosen the green screw and disconnect the green lead.  Use pliers to disconnect the white and black leads from their connections.  Discard the motor but keep the cable.

3.  Connect motor cable to new motor and test.

A.  See photo.  Remove the gray cover plate from the new motor.  Connect the black lead to the terminal marked “1” and the white lead to the terminal marked “4”.

B.  Use the 1/4″ nut driver to loosen the green screw.  Slide the connector on the green lead onto the post and tighten the screw.

C.  Connect the motor cable connector to the controller port marked “Motor.”

D.  Holding the motor, run a Manual Mist to confirm that the motor spins when powered.

4.  Secure new motor to chassis, connect pump to motor and test.

A.  IMPORTANT!!  Unplug the motor cable connector from the controller port marked “Motor.”

B.  Orient the motor so that the cable end is nearest the front of the unit.  Place the motor over the 4 studs in the base of the unit and add lock washers.  Use the 1/2″ ratcheting wrench to secure the motor.

C.  Slide clamp with screws over pump and mate pump shaft to motor.  Use phillips screwdriver to tighten clamp.

D.  Ensure the pump intake and discharge tubing are secure in the push-to-connect fittings.

E.  Run a Manual Mist to confirm the unit is working.

5.  Return cover and controller to original position.

This article will detail the steps of replacing the controller faceplate, as well as the tools and parts necessary for the repair process.

IMPORTANT:  Before disassembling the controller, touch your hand to a metal object to discharge any static.

 

Time:  <5 mins

 

Tools:  Small Phillips Head Screwdriver

 

Parts:  Gen 3/1.3 Controller Faceplate with Buttons (#21050)

 

Repair Instructions:

 

1.  Remove faceplate from controller.

• Remove screws securing controller into Gen 1.3 cover or Gen 3 shroud.
• Disconnect controller completely from wiring harness, power and motor.
• Place the controller, display side down, on a flat surface.  Remove screws from four corners on back of controller with Phillips screwdriver.  Do not remove the 6 stainless steel screws.
• Carefully remove the faceplate as shown.  Do not allow the faceplate to dangle from the controller.

• Place on flat surface as shown.

• Disconnect the ribbon cable from the exposed board by pressing down on the clip and sliding the connector out.  You may need to wiggle the connector slightly to remove it.2.  Replace with new faceplate.

2.  Replace with new faceplate.

• Connect the ribbon cable from the new faceplate to its connector on the board.  Verify that the locking tab on the connector is fully engaged.
• Place the faceplate back onto the controller.
• Avoid scoring the ribbon cable by ensuring that the rounded bend in the cable is pointed toward the case as shown, and not toward the display window. 

• Replace the screws securing the controller to the faceplate using a phillips screwdriver.
• Reconnect the wiring harness, power and motor cables (color coded) to the controller.
• Secure controller to Gen 3 shroud or Gen 1.3 cover with screws.
